SPORTS AND ENTERTAINMENT WERE A WIN-WIN SITUATION Local families of Moreland have witnessed an interstate sport event last Saturday night at The night was designed to raise money for Team Taekwondo players to purchase newly introduced electronic shields in the Taekwondo sport. Furthermore generate prize money to help Taekwondo players cover training expenses. $6250 of money was raised help subsidise the purchase of electronic shields and also $5000 of prize money was split among 26 Taekwondo show case players. Team Taekwondo achieved the following results: Cassandra Willox (runner-up); Jack Chapman (runner-up); Madeline Shoebridge (winner); Jonathon Willox (runner-up); Deniz Mert (winner); Askin Ovali (runner-up); Catherine Kostadakopoulos (winner); Bhmisen Gautam (runner-up); Pinar Yurdakul (runner-up); Daniel Safstrom (winner); Jai Manoharan (winner); Kaan Kahraman (winner); Andres Tissera (runner-up). The event was further strengthened by the attedance of the Australian 2008 Olympic representatives Carmon Marton and Burak Hassan. Team Taekwondo director and head instructor Murat Eryurek addressed all the corporate sponsors with the following comments "Taekwondo is not only a sport but a passion. The Taekwondo passion allows the youth of today to setting goals, fitness and challenges. The biggest winner and the highlight for us tonight was to witness the 13 local Coburg Team Taekwondo players showcase their skills on a Saturday evening to their families and friends, rather than losing them to partying, binge drinking and unsocial behaviour that we have recently witnessed in the media.
